Maiden's Tower
The Maiden's Tower (Turkish: Kız Kulesi), also known as Leander's Tower (Tower of Leandros) since the medieval Byzantine period, is a tower lying on a small islet located at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus strait 200 m (220 yd) from the coast of Uskudar in Istanbul, Turkey.
There are many legends about the construction of the tower and its location. According to the most popular Turkish legend, a sultan had a much beloved daughter. One day, an oracle prophesied that she would be killed by a venomous snake on her 18th birthday. The sultan, in an effort to thwart his daughter's early demise by placing her away from land so as to keep her away from any snakes, had the tower built in the middle of the Bosphorus to protect his daughter until her 18th birthday. The princess was placed in the tower, where she was frequently visited only by her father. On the 18th birthday of the princess, the sultan brought her a basket of exotic sumptuous fruits as a birthday gift, delighted that he was able to prevent the prophecy. Upon reaching into the basket, however, an asp that had been hiding among the fruit bit the young princess and she died in her father's arms, just as the oracle had predicted. Hence the name Maiden's Tower.
The interior of the tower has been transformed into a popular café and restaurant, with an excellent view of the former Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman capital. Private boats make trips to the tower several times a day. In İstanbul, There are travel agencies having private tours to Maiden Tower.

from the Arabic word harb for warfare) was the site of the Ottoman imperial
military academy, the empire's "West Point" or "Sandhurst " and is still an important military
installation. A fine collection of historical weapons, uniforms and tools of
various periods of the army are on display. The highlights are the magnificent
campaign tents and standards. Outside the museum, interesting Ottoman cannons

Ankara
Ankara City Tour |
The city has a mean elevation of 938 meters,
and as of 2010 the metropolitan area in the entire Ankara Province had a population of 4.4 million. As turkey advisor,
with many ancient cities, Ankara has
gone by several names over the ages. It has been identified with the Hittite cult center Ankuses, although this remains a matter
of debate. In classical antiquity and during the medieval period, the city was
known as Ankara in Greek and Ancyra in Latin; the Galatian Celtic
name was probably a similar variant. Following its annexation by the Seljuk
Turks in 1073, the city became known in many European languages as Angora, a usage which continued until
its official renaming to Ankara
under the Turkish Postal Service Law of 1930.
Another
proposed theory show that the original name of the city might be taken over
from the Angara River of Asia by the
invading Seljuk Turks. Centrally located in Anatolia, Ankara is an
important commercial and industrial city. It is the center of the Turkish
Government, and houses all foreign embassies. It is an important crossroads of
trade, strategically located at the center of Turkeys highway and railway
networks, and serves as the marketing center for the surrounding agricultural
area. The city was famous for its long haired Angora goat and its prized wool ,
a unique breed of cat (Angora cat), white rabbits and their prized
wool (Angora wool), pears, honey, and the regions musket grapes. Ankara city tour and Istanbul to Ankara tours.
